| Description: | Your specialized nursing expertise is needed. Build your vital skills, talents and expertise as a registered nurse to make a crucial difference to advance nursing practice in your community and beyond. Designed with the fast-paced schedule of the working nurse in mind, these graduate diploma programs develop expertise and prepare students to advance nursing in the continuously evolving fields of mental health and addictions and dementia studies. These distinct programs prepare students for employment in many positions within these important nursing specialties.
Geared to suit your lifestyle, this five-course program of study, offered through the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing, is delivered over five semesters through online coursework and on-site practicum workshops. Each of the four theory courses includes readings, online discussions and assignments, in addition to two eight-hour workshops consisting of various forms of active learning, including role play and simulated practice. The final course offers experiential education in the form of a peer-mentored clinical practicum. If you currently work in a mental health or addiction setting, you will be able to complete your clinical practicum there; or you may decide to learn in a completely new setting. |
